Developer submits application for mobile phone mast at Reskivers

After submitting a pre-application advice request to Cornwall Council for a proposed mobile phone mast at Reskivers, the developer has now submitted the formal application for the proposal. Mobile phone masts are deemed to be permitted development which means that a full planning application does not have to be submitted. Instead, the developer submits what is called a Prior Notification to the Council.

See below the letter from Mr Allwork of Sinclair Dalby, the developer, to the Council with the application. See also the plans which are the same as those in the pre-application advice request.

Complete details of the application can be viewed on the Cornwall Council planning portal, reference no. PA17/03001. Residents and other interested parties can comment on this prior notification as they would with a full planning application.

April 2017

Statement by Bob Egerton, 3 May 2017

Dalby Sinclair Ltd. has submitted on behalf of Vodafone a Prior Notification application to Cornwall Council for a new mobile phone mast at Reskivers on the outskirts of Tregony. There has been a number of objections to the application. Some of the objectors have expressed concerns about the health impacts of mobile phone masts; other objections have been on the grounds of preferring that the mast should be sited elsewhere, e.g. on the sports field at Tregony.

Adequate mobile phone reception in Tregony is currently limited to customers of EE who receive a signal from the transmitter at Trewarthenck. This new mast would serve the networks of Vodafone and O2. The overwhelming majority of the adult population are nowadays users of mobile phones and rely on them for many activities. I think that most users want improved coverage. This mast would improve the service for many. Government has issued guidelines regarding precautions that should be taken on health grounds related to mobile phone masts. This proposed mast would meet the government guidelines. I believe that the visual impact of the mast would be minimal. I do not have any reasonable planning reasons to object to this application. In fact I support the application. It is likely that this application will be determined by the planning officer under standard delegated powers. I will not be asking for this application to be referred to a planning committee.

Note: see previous information and consultation that I have carried out on the issue of potential new phone masts in the Tregony area:
