Planning application submitted to Cornwall Council for gypsy/traveller site on land east of Grampound

In July 2020, a family moved on to a field 200 metres outside the village of Grampound on the A390 towards St Austell. They have now submitted a planning application to Cornwall Council for "Change of use of land to a family gypsy /traveller site comprised of 4 pitches including 4 no. mobile homes, 4 no. touring caravans, 4 no. day rooms, and associated works. Part retrospective." The application can be viewed on the Council's planning portal and the reference number is PA20/10597 and any resident can comment on the application if they wish.

Cornwall Council's Local Plan covers the period 2010-2030. The plan identified a need for the provision of an additional 318 traveller pitches in that period. Between 2010 and 2020, only 66 new pitches had been granted permission, which is equivalent to 21% of the target by halfway through the period.

Grampound Parish Council will discuss the application at their meeting on Thursday 21 January, see agenda on website.
