New vehicles now operating on Tregony/Roseland bus routes

In Spring 2018, First Buses made a multi-million pound investment in new buses on several routes across Cornwall. It was planned that new vehicles would be introduced on the 50/51 and 22 routes through Probus, Tregony and the Roseland at that time. Unfortunately, it was found that the new vehicles were just a few inches too wide to be able to navigate the very narrow road through Portloe. The existing vehicles were, therefore, retained on these routes for a while.

In February 2019, after further investment by First, new vehicles of a different type (fractionally narrower and shorter) have been purchased and are now running on these local routes.

I was very plesaed to meet the First operations manager for Cornwall and my fellow councillor for the Roseland, Julian German, in The Square, Tregony to view the new vehicles for ourselves. The passengers on board told us how pleased they were with the new vehicles.

Timetables: passengers will also be pleased to know that the current timetables on these routes are being retained through the summer of 2019. Cornwall Council will be undertaking an exercise to retender these subsidised routes later this year.
