Council publishes reports on planning enforcement activity each quarter

Residents often report to Cornwall Council planning department cases of alleged breaches of planning permissions. When the Council receives these complaints, a Council enforcement officer investigates the issue and determines what action, if any, should be taken.

Each quarter, the Council publishes a report of the activity of the planning enforcement teams. The most recent report for April to June 2017 is now available at Planning enforcement second quarter 2017.

You will see that, in over 40% of cases, there is no breach of planning control or the matter is one of permitted development. In other cases, the matter is resolved by the alleged culprit submitting a planning application for the development. In only a small proportion of cases, are formal notices served.
