Grampound Community Fund recommends grants totalling over £17,000 to local groups

Grampound Community Fund, the fund associated with the Garlenick wind turbines, met on 14 June 2016 and agreed to recommend grants for five local projects totalling £17,724. The projects are:

  • Grampound Carnival Committee: £679 for new bunting
  • Grampound Recreation Ground and Hall: £6,966 for works to new open space at Ham Field
  • Grampound Parish Council: £3,400 towards cost of speed visor
  • Grampound Parochial Church Council: £3,234 towards extension of graveyard at Creed Church
  • Grampound PFA: £3,445 for provision of community shelter on open space

In total, since the turbines were installed in 2014, over £95,000 has been made available to projects in the parish of Grampound with Creed.

At the meeting, it was also agreed that new elections would be held for the 5 members of the advisory panel who were first elected in 2013. The panel's composition comprises one representative of Cornwall Council (the elected Cornwall Councillor for the area), one representative of Grampound with Creed Parish Council (nominated by the parish council) and 5 residents of the parish elected in a parish-wide election every 3 years. Further details of the way that the elections will be conducted will be published in August.
