Cabinet starts the annual Budget setting process

The annual budget setting process has started by the Cabinet.

All areas of the Council are under pressure to make savings. The biggest area of concern is, as in previous years, adult social care, where forecasts of demand in future years, coupled with significant wage increases through the national living wage, means that we are forecasting a gap of up to £20 million in next year's revenue budget.

Cabinet will be considering the Budget in more detail at its meeting on 15 November but it is likely that it will take until January before the Cabinet is able to make a firm recommendation to Full Council on the proposed budget.
