Free parking in Cornwall Council car parks for Blue Badge holders The national blue badge scheme provides parking concessions for people with certain disabilities. A blue badge lets you park closer to the shops and services you need to use, whether you’re the driver or a passenger in a car. The blue badge is for on-street parking only. There are different rules for off-street parking, like council, hospital or supermarket car parks. In Cornwall, the Council has brought in a scheme for blue badge holders to be able to park for free in Council car parks. This scheme is open to all blue badge holders who also have a registered disabled vehicle which qualifies for free tax and it is not limited to Cornish residents. Only one vehicle can be registered per person. To qualify for the exemption a vehicle must be registered as disabled on the vehicles registration document (V5C) and a copy of that document will be required to be submitted with the application. In order to maintain this as a cost-neutral service the Council is making a small charge to register a vehicle. This cost is currently £10 per year. For further information, see the Council website at Blue badge parking.
